Question:

how to get a friend to use smoke detectors?

My best friend is a smoker and also cooks a lot(very good at it). They have only one older looking smoke detector, which has the battery's removed. The reason They do not want to get any more is because the old one would go off pretty frequently when they would cook something. They also believe that because they smoke a lot that the smoke from the cigarettes will set the detector off and that nothing could ever go wrong in their house anyway, as long as they are awake. I care very deeply for this person and am quite frustrated they do not take fire safety seriously, anything i can say to someone stubborn about fire detectors?

Answer:

Don't work with a 400 volt circuit that is energized. You could get killed.
Well, most clothing labels don't do freelance, they contract either already known artists and have their style or form translated into things that would work for clothing. That's why it's not limited to painters and etc., and anyone from celebrities to interior designers are used to design clothing. If it's graphic t-shirts and stuff you're thinking, which is what it appears to be, and you are looking on launching a clothing line, I would be careful. Reproducing other people's artwork, even with their permission, is a HUGE liability unless you draft a contract with really clear language stipulating exactly what they get paid, if anything at all. And if you do that, you would need to keep receipts and etc., because there are plenty of strangers out there who would lie, and if you did not have the documentation to prove you paid them fairly, you would most likely lose a civil court case for whatever damages their lawyer is able to make up. Just saying if you actually expect to go somewhere, being an unlicensed clothing provider has a lot of things to work out. I know all of this because I do both writing and artwork for hire, and am in law school. It's tricky out there. I would keep the artwork coming from friends, family, etc for safety's sake. If you have any more specific questions, I'd be willing to help.
