Question:

How to lift a car with a floor jack and jack stands?

Where do you place them? I know where the jack up points are on the sides (I work mainly on Hondas and there are 2 jack points on each side, points about a foot from the wheels).Well, if you want to jack the front driver side wheel off the ground, you use the floor jack to lift at the nearest point, but then where do you put the jack stand? Don‘t you want to have the car on the jack stand and not supported by a rolling floor jack?Is it safe to jack up anywhere along the frame?Where do you jack up the rear? The tow hook?Where do you jack up the front? The frame middle below the radiator? Oil pan to lift engine (after removing some mounts)?

Answer:

Please make sure that you really need to jack the car up off the floor to work on it many serious accidents occur from cars falling off when someone is working on them and most of the time it is just as easy to work on the car with all of its weight still on all of its 4 wheels. Avoid jacking a car up to work on it unless you absolutely have to. If a car has been jacked up please be very careful not to get under it. Just look in the owners manual for the jacking points. If the owners manual has been lost or look on the small jack supplied with the vehicle they usually have a small stick on label showing how to find the cars jacking points. Its always best to use the vehicle manufactures approved jacking points only.
All i know is use the jackpoints on the car. if u want to use the differental to lift the back. no harm done
