How to make a cheap veneer press?

I am making a chess board out of veneer, it needs pressing but I don't own one.... Does anyone have a plan to make a cheap one?

Answer:

The pressing thing may be a bit unnecessary - they were for the days of rabbit skin glues and board that might cockle. The proper thing tends to be cast iron affairs and dificult to make up someting unless you pile lots of heavy weights on a stout board. If you use a modern contact-type glue (ie not water based) and roller them down (something like one of those hard seam rollers) onto say MDF as a core you might get away without
