Question:

How to make a double boiler with two pots or pans?

how can you make a double boiler without a double boiler?

Answer:

Fill a pot about half way with water and let it boil and use a glass or stainless steel bowl over the top that is big enough so that it doesn't fall into the pot and use that to put whatever you are making in. :)
Instead of using the standard double-boiler, get one pot and place a larger pyrex or heat-resistant bowl on top. put the ingredients that you want to melt in the larger bowl. tips: do not boil the water, just put it on the setting of 6 or 7 (out of 10) only fill the pot to about 1 to 2 inches of water the space in the pot that is not filled with water will heat up and melt the ingredients. have fun :)
yes you can! You need a pyrex or a bowl that can stand the heat that JUST BARLEY DOES NOT FIT IN THE pan .Put it on top of the pan/ saucer and put water in the pot and you have a double boiler
If you don't have a standard double-boiler, put the smaller pan on the burner with the boiling water and set the larger pan on top. I did this for years before I purchased a real double boiler. (Just be sure that the boiling water isn't high enough in the lower pan to get the upper pan wet through direct contact with boiling water)
Look for two pots about the same size, the one on the bottom holding the water should be slightly bigger but not by much, as the purpose for double boiler is to allow enough heat in the bottom pan to create a boil. You could do this stove top or use the oven with two oven safe pans, simply place one on top of the other.
