I know how to open the keyboard by just tapping the box. But I want a button to open the keyboard when there is no box to type in. Any help?
You can plug a USB keyboard by utg directly or use Bluetooth

Go to the Play Store and install Hacker's Keyboard, and change your default keyboard. To be able to open it anywhere, you go into the settings for the keyboard and check the box for 'permanent notification'. It will then keep an entry in the notifications which you can tap to bring up the keyboard at any point.
There are many keyboard apps available at google play store. you should try one of them.
