Question:

How to remove a steering wheel?

How can i remove a steering wheel with out useing a puller, I know theres away, but i cant remember.

Answer:

Safely? None. It all depends on the type of car, but you have air bag systems, clock springs, etc. Autozone rents pullers. You get the $ back when you return the tool. EDIT: You entered your vehicle info. Here is the AllData step-by-step procedure. 1: Remove horn button and ring. On 1989-92 models with standard wheel, remove cover attaching screws from the underside of the the wheel, then remove cover. Disconnect horn wire connectors from contact switch. On models with sport wheel, remove horn contact assembly and flex plate. On Grand Cherokee models, remove four retaining nuts from back of steering wheel, then remove airbag module. 2: On all models, remove steering wheel retaining nut, then scribe alignment marks on steering shaft and wheel to aid installation. 3: Using suitable puller, remove wheel from shaft. 4: Reverse procedure to install. On 1988-92 models, torque steering wheel retaining nut to 25 ft lbs.
revove wheel centre cover, loosen wheel nut but dont take right mark so replacement is same place, pull on wheel while wiggling it up and down, when loose remove nut, never hit centre shaft with anything
Most newer cars have an air bag in the steering wheel. It should be removed by someone who has the proper tools and knowledge to do it safely.
