Question:

How to repair tiles?

Accidentally I knocked off six 4X4 ceramic tiles off the wall in my shower. I have extras. How can I repair this?

Answer:

wear goggles as the piece's are extremely sharp. Get waterproof adhesive, grout,, sponge and spacers They also sell a tool to remove old grout If you don't want it to look like a patch, you should Replace all the grout If not, chip out the old tile, clean the wall and old grout, apply adhesive to the tile, place in hole Place spacers, two on a side Let adhesive dry Mix grout and apply Wipe will damp sponge Or instead of a tile, put in a soap dish or shampoo shelf
remove the adhesive and re stick the new ones. The problem will be in the grouting. The new grout will be a different colour then the new.You can buy a attachment for a Dremel tool that will remove all the grout and then re grout the whole area.
You accidently? knocked off the tiles? Tile, when properly installed don't fall off by accident.Make sure you don't have a wet wall behind where the tiles came off. If so, you need to take care of that problem before you reset those six tiles.
The right way is to chisel out the old thinset down to the backer board and set the replacement tiles into it just like you'd do on a new tile job. However, in some cases, if the tiles came off cleanly, you might be able to cheat and stick the new ones on using a small amount of silicone adhesive and then regrout around them. Just be careful around those tiles in the future.
