Second, from a practical point of view, just place a towel down and then a sheet. Once you two are finished, then chuck the sheet and towel and call it a night. they like to use their default weapon. try taking their weapon from them . some of the followers are good with sword/axe and shield. some of them are two hander people. and casters etc. make sure that you match up the equipment you give them to their fighting style.
