Question:

About front loader washers?

i Bought front loader and the sales person said we had to buy detergent with the HE symbol on the Label, now is it the same thing with fabric softener? or can i pick any kind i want?

Answer:

fabric softener is not detergent...HE means it's LOW suds...you can use any fabric softener you like. (and all the major brands of detergent make HE products these days.)
HE washers mean that they require less detergent and this is why you get the HE soap. The softener, you can pretty much use what you'd like.
you can use any kind you want, but just use a lot less of it. front loaders don't need as much soap or fabric softener as top loaders.
I don't use fabric softener...it causes fibers to break down sooner than they should. But, I don't think it matters with the front loader and fabric softener. The concern is the amount of suds produced by the detergent.
The detergent has to be HE because they've removed the phosphates...Phosphates make the water suds but also adds a lot of pollution to our waterways... Fabric softener doesn't suds so you can use whatever you were using before.. I hope your salesperson told you that because a front load uses 1/3 the water, you only need to use 1/3 the detergent, fabric softener etc...See how front loaders are helping our environment ?
