You're confused. There are games called Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2, and there are also games called Metal Gear Solid and Metal Gear Solid 2. Metal Gear is really one of the most complicated stories out there, and jumping in is really not a great idea. There are two ways to play the franchise, either in chronological order, or in the order that they were released. In chronological order, the games go: Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain Metal Gear Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance In order of release, the list goes: Metal Gear Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain Personally, I'd recommend playing in the order in which they were released so as to avoid confusion.
