Question:

Oldsmobile Aurora?

I have a 1995 Aurora that I just bought recently with 98k miles on it. It appears to be in great shape, I had the brakes done and it needs new rear shocks. For $2900 did I get a good deal? Are there things I can expect to go wrong with it soon, or is this case of me finding a steal? The interior and exterior are in impeccable shape.

Answer:

are your wheel bearings in need of replacing ?
Sounds like your shocks are bad to me. That would make it squeek when you are turning and going over speed bumps. Steering may need to be greased. Could also be your springs on your truck making it squeek over bumps. Or possibly knuckle bushings if you have independent suspension.
First the car selection is probably the most important decision you will make in the proses of starting a racing carrier (I drive an 88 Honda CRX DX). The car you drive will determine how you drive, where you can drive it, and who you will race. If you have a tight budget (Like I do) I would suggest a Honda (they have a bad rep., but they are CHEAP to maintain and upgrade compared to most other brands). After you get the car I would suggest learning how to drive it (not like drive around town but really learn to drive it) by finding a school that has go-carts (really even PRO and NASCAR drivers use go-carts to sharpen there skills). Finally find a club or team (informal or formal) to race or race with.
Get a chasis lube or check your suspension bushings and replace as needed.
probably the control arm bushings are either dry or worn out. spray some lube on the bushings and see what you have. when was the last time the ball joints and tie rods been greased?
