Question:

i have a 2000 ford explorer with a 4.0 sohc motor. The fuel pump gets no power when plugged into wire harness.?

fuel pump was pulled out and direct power run to it - it works fine. when plugged back into wire harness, it gets no power. Wire harness appears to be good. I bought a fuel pump relay that i'm getting ready to try. I was wondering if there is any other thoughts on what this could be.

Answer:

yes try a new relay and if that,s not it then you either have a bad plug- in or a break in the hot wire. you might have to run another wire up to the relay. did you check the pump fuse?
did you examine the relay before you attached the gas pump to work out in case you have been getting ability by it. and did you examine the gas pump for operation before you place it jointly? seems to me this is critical start up over such as your fuse/relay panel/ close off bypass from there. even possibly your previous gas pump is powerful. did you examine that? What approximately your gas filter out? i've got no longer tried this on a ninety one explorer - have a ninety two, build highway rods wiring harnesses, yet you will possibly desire to bypass each thing if that's what you're concerning with a switched warm, fused relay returned on your gas pump. I even have upgraded some older vehicles this type that have replaced to the fi engines, it quite works wonderful.
ignition switch, fuse, relay.
