Question:

I have a 2000 V6 camaro, anyone ever made a cold air intake for one?? if so how?

I have already removed my cat and installed magna flow dual exhuast on my V6 camaro but I want more trottle response and horse power without buying an exspensive cold air intake kit ive seen u can make the kits at auto shops with elbows and stuff. as anyone ever done this on a camaro?? if so please tell me how you did it.

Answer:

it can be done but is hard to do right.just fork out the money and buy a kn cold air intake they are the best from what i have seen
Use CopperBond and a sleeve, no flame is required and this stuff works and can be used for oils I believe, read package first. Easy repair. In detail: Cut line with hack on crack, apply glue like CopperBond as per instruction via putting copper sleeve on line--apporpirate size.
Depends if its pressurized! use Duck tape, use a solvent like nail polish to clean off the pipe so you get a good stick! or rubber pipe that could cut down the middle to slip over the crack then turn it over the crack and use car radiator hose clamps to tighten the seal.
i cant find one for my 96 either i talked to my local car shop about a universal intake kit, they said they were going to have to rip a lot of stuff out to make it fit, they reccomend a new computer chip they said it would give me the horse power gain im looking for but im not sure if u want hourse power or just to cool ur engine down
A cold air intake is not that difficult to fabricate - if you can source the bits. The best bet (and the best appearing) is to source the silicone unions and 4 aluminum tube (you can find them online). You can then cut the tubing to size, tap them for the appropriate sensors, and locate the CAI (my suggestion - there's a panel you can get past on the driver's side front fender, where you can access cold air from in front of the front wheel well). If you have trouble sourcing a 90 degree bend from in front of the MAF, you can likely scavenge from a universal kit, or possibly even one from a V8 (or - wince - tuner car kit). It will cost a little less if you use plastic or thin metal ducting, but it'll look plug ugly and won't function as well.
