Question:

i have a 2004 impala. the right side windshield wiper stopped working last night. could a wire be loose ?

if the wiper motor died , the left would not be working either right ? please advise me on what might be wrong. thank-you in advance for any and all answers.

Answer:

You are correct that if the wiper motor quit, both wipers will quit. There is a connecting bar that links the wipers so they work in unison and don't hit each other. This has probably come disconnected somehow. If you live in an area that gets snow and ice, this causes alot of strain on the wiper parts if you turn them on when the wipers are frozen to the windshield. After time this can weaken the linkage for the wipers and things can break. Since the car is almost 5 years old, this could happen at any time, not just during freezing weather.
No not really. The wire could be lose but there are two motors in most slightly older cars, not one. The motor is located directly under the windshield wiper and there are two of them, so one could have gone kabloey (hi-tech term) For verification, check with your dealer or local auto parts store on the phone. You could also look under the hood and see if there are two motors if they are not covered up. Good luck, hope I helped
