Question:

I have a cable braking system on my bike and i want to do barspins.?

uh. i have a bike and i want to learn how to do barspins and tailwhips. but i have a cable braking system and i like the secerity of being able to brake when you have to. i thought about gyro brakes but i want to know if you could by a kit that allows you to install gyro on your bike yourself. or if i should just take off my brakes. but i‘ve seen how aaron ross barspins and tailwhips and he has a cable braking system how duz he du that? please tell me what i should do so i could achieve to beable to barspin.

Answer:

If you want brakes, you have three options. 1) You could straight cable it. Meaning you take off your front brake and add a new, longer cable to the rear. This will let you do 2-3 spins/whips before you have to turn the bars to straighten out the line. 2) Install a gyro. You should probably take it to a shop for this. 3) Buy a hollow headset bolt. this will allow you to run the brake cable through the steer tube and eliminate the need for a gyro or a longer cable
Mr Smith is on point here Although I would add a #4 to it, you can also drill out part of the top cap from your headset and pass the cable through there instead of buying the hollow bolt. Same result, just dont have to pay $$.
the gyro system looks very similar to regular cables, so aaron ross actually has a gyro system. I imagine if you did digging you could find a gyro kit. whatever you do, don't get rid of brakes, you will regret it when you are going down a hill and cant stop
