Question:

I have a problem with a Lanier 5235 copy machine. Help!!?

Ok, so my aunt just got a used lanier 5235 copy machine and apparently it was working great. One day all of a sudden, a red light started flashing and a little key appeared on the copy machine's screen and in the screen there was a message that said to turn the machine off and on. After doing that the machine started working normally, again. Although the red light and the key would appear constantly, all she had to do was turn the machine off and on and it would work fine. After this technical failure the copies started to get stuck and my aunt would had to remove them abruptly and also the copies would come out fully covered with black ink, and that's when the copy machine stopped working. The red light was flashing again and the little key appeared again, too. She tried to turn it off and on like she did before but the copy machine didn't respond anymore. She says that it looks like as if the copy machine were to be locked. Please someone help me Thanks :)

Answer:

The bad spot can be cut out and a PVC sleeve with No Hub fittings put in in it's place. Most places if you make a 'repair' you don't have to bring it up to code. If, however, you 'replace' then it does have to be done to code. Check with a local plumber and your city building inspectors to make sure.
you can get 110 volt models. but they would be stand alone. you couldn't tie them into a system. if you have a fire alarm system you really need a pro to do load calculation, prints, permits, installation, testing, and inspections. its not easy and its not cheap. if your in a single family home, sure, buy 24 volt devices and use a door bell transformer
You can not sue the municipality for your negligence. Speed bumps are not required to be marked. They are in a low speed limit area for a reason. It is a driver;s responsibility to pay attention to their driving. We had a law suit in Vegas some time back by the parents of a kid who hit a tree and died. They claimed that he lost control because of hitting a speed bump and filed suit against the city for the speed bump and the people who owned the property where the tree was located. Needless to say the case was thrown out of court. First the kid was speeding, second he wasn't paying attention to the road and third he drove 30' across a front yard to hit the tree.
