Question:

I have a problem with my car alarm.?

It is a 2000 Honda Accord and my alarm just started acting funky. When I push the button that usually locks and arms the car, it will just lock it but not give off the beep beep sound that assures its activated. And when I try to open the door, the alarm does not go off. The light in the front that shows when it is armed is lite but the alarm is still not soundingPlease only answer if you know. Thanks

Answer:

If its an aftermarket alarm ,it sounds like its in the valet mode.meaning you set it this way when using a public parking garage and you dont want the alarm to sound or lock with the keys in the car.it can sometimes get into valet without you knowing.inadvertently hitting the switch, battery power loss, etc Usually there is a push button or toggle type switch installed under the dash to take it out of valet mode. You first find the switch, then turn the ignition key to the on position but dont start it,then push the button or flip the switch and it should go out of valet modethe light should blink when its armedstay steady lit when in valet.some you have to do it with the remote. Hope that helps you. If you cannot find it,contact the installer or the alarm companyI.E. viper, for example, and they should be able to guide you If its a factory alarm then contact the dealer for assistance.
You need a new battery.
