Question:

I have a question about carpeting. I have a 2,000 square foot house. ?

I would like to have it completely carpeted from wall to wall. How much will it cost me to buy the carpeting and have it installed professionally?

Answer:

If your planning on doing the whole house at once, your best bet in to go to one of the large chain stores. They will come out and professional measure it for free. I can tell you It's not going to be cheap. you are looking at around 200 yards. A medium grade carpet where I'm from goes for about $10-15 a yard. That does not include pad. Don't go with a real cheap carpet it just won't last. A basic way to tell the quality is to look at the height of the nap and then spread it apart with your fingers. If there is a lot of space in between the carpet fibers its a lower quality.
Use this calculator and go room by room to see exactly how much carpeting you need. Have at least 3 company's give you an estimate. Do not tell them you have the amount of yards of carpeting needed. This will give you an idea of how honest they are being. If you get a patterned carpet this calculator will not work. If you have pets get a padding that has a vapor barrier. Get the best padding you can afford. It supports you new carpeting. Home Depot in our area has a special for 99.00 to install your carpets. Then get you carpets cleaned every six month and it will last you for years.
ionno try getting quotes from a few business's in your area
