Question:

I have a street bike and i want to ride it in the winter to work but i live in alaska and the roads?

get frozen and icy here-do studded tires work? I had a bicycle with studded tires and i never fell or even slipped..

Answer:

Perfectly safe; I've used one for years. They shut down by themselves after 10 or 12 hours anyway. You can wash them on the delicate cycle and even dry them in your clothes dryer using the fluff/air only cycle.
I've used an electric blanket for years. Love it. Never had one problem with it and I also don't have arthritis or joint pain. (I'm 78).
I have never felt the need to try an electric blanket. I prefer to get into a cool bed and let my body warm it through.
Firstly this is a huge sign that you are going to bed too late. An alarm clock should just be a backup in case you don't wake up at your natural time. It is actually bad for you for an alarm clock to wake you suddenly from sleep. I have time my sleeping schedule perfectly so I wake up 15-30 minutes before my alarm goes off. Keep going to bed 10 minutes earlier each night until you get it right. Secondly it all else fails just buy a louder alarm! You can buy ones that sound like fog horns these days.
I love my electric blanket. They'll have to pry it out of my cold dead fingers. And they're perfectly safe. Mostly. The older models that do not automatically shut off after a few hours (blankets manufactured more than 15 years ago) and which have cords that are damaged have occasionally been the cause of fires. But that's not a problem. Just get a newer model, and make sure your pet is not chewing on it, etc. There have also been a few scientific studies indicating a possible and very slight increased risk of some cancers due to the EMF (electromagnetic field) emissions from the current flowing through the wires. But they're been studying this for decades now, and the evidence of a connection is only very weak. If you are concerned about that possibility, the answer is: Use the blanket to warm the bed BEFORE you retire, and then turn the thing off.
