Question:

I have Aluminum Wiring in my home and need it fixed!?

Hello, I am trying to find information on aluminum wiring and how to 100% repair itI have been told many different things from different electriciansSome say splicing is a permanent, 100% fixOthers say that splicing still leaves aluminum wiring in the house and the dissimilar connections could cause problems in the futureSome say the only real way to be sure aluminum wiring is safe and 100% fixed is to replace it with copperMoney is not an issue I just want it done correct so that I don't have any fire problems in the futureRight now we have light flickering, melted connections and smelling of burning plasticAny help on this would be great! I just want to totally fix it and make sure my family is safeI look forward to your response.

Answer:

Call your vet, and keep an eye on your dog in case he should start throwing up or stop eatingKeep him hydrated and make sure your garbage becomes unavailable to your pets from here on outNormally, if you have two large dogs and they ate a cupcake, it should wash through their systemJust call you vet, let him/her know, and watch them over the next few daysThey should be fine, I hope.
One cupcake with that small of amount of aluminum wrapper between 2 dogs? I think they will be fineJust keep your eye on them and make sure they have no problem pooping tomorrowLOL Some of these folks are ready to charge you with animal abuseGood grief she didn't do it on purposeIf I posted some of the things my dogs had gotten into you would think I was terribleDogs will be dogs and we do the best we canBut eventually they will get into something we don't like
Okay, first of all, contrary to popular belief, one chocolate cup cake will not kill your dogWatch to make sure they are not showing any signs of pain or distress from the foil b/c this will be hard to digest/passChocolate can kill a dog, but it would take more than the average person throws away at the end of the dayYour dogs will more than likely be fine, but in the event that something does happen, make sure you have an emergency vet number handy.
How big are the dogs? How big was the cupcakeHow 'chocolately' was it? These are both important to determine if this would be a problem or not If they are labs, then one chocolate muffin isn't likely to do any harmThe culprit will probably have diarrhea A little tiny dog and a very chocolatey muffin, and you could (potentially) have problems Watch for signs of 'hyperactivity'Theobromine is the toxic compound in chocolateIt acts as a stimulant that doesn't get properly metabolized(I'm sure someone else will have posted some details by the time I hit post)
Ok, since you have said that money is not an issue, then I would also say replace it allIt is best however, that you familiarize yourself with what you have and make the decision from an educated point of view, so look at the information in the link to get an idea of what is safe, and what is not when dealing with aluminum wiringAluminum wiring CAN be safe, but it takes a LOT of work to get it thereIf you are already smelling burning plastic, then you have a very long way to go to make sure the entire system is safe, and knowing that, changing everything to copper may indeed be the best solutionAl
