Question:

Is a cold air intake worth it on my car?

I have an 05 Grand Marquis with a 4.6 V8 and just recenty went from a single stock exhaust to a true dual exhaust h-pipe with flowmaster mufflers. I plan to put performance pulleys, a throttle body spacer, Magnaflow high flow cats, and lastly have it dynotuned. Would it be worth it to put the KN cold air intake on with all these mods?I also have another question, Since I just put on the h-pipe, do I still have resonators or would they have been taken out? Because if they are still there I am maybe going to take them out and put some straight pipes on.

Answer:

Dude don't believe everything you read. The air intake may give you like 2hp. Now if you did some other upgrades like a catback exhaust etc you would get a little closer to 18hp gain. You will get a bit more gas milage out of it. Either way if you want performance, the V6 was not the way to go. Not muscle and would take alot more to make a little quicker.
The copper content stimulates the flow of saliva through oxidation and enables the horse to accept the bit and relax his jaw. It also allows for more sensitive communication between horse and rider
copper bits are very good to use. because the taste does make the horses mouth water which makes him take the bit more and chew on it. which is what you want. my horse has one of those bits that have the lil slices of copper i cant remember what its called haha
Have the cold air induction put in before being dynotuned. The induction is a definite upgrade. The exhaust system upgrade is very good. With the H pipe the equalization of exhaust pressure will tone down the exhaust sound and I don't think the resonators are needed. Consult with whoever is tuning the system to see if they are needed to maintain a degree of back pressure and decide from there.
A KN Cold Air Intake would be a nice finishing touch to that car with the listed mods. Actually the first mod I would make to a car would usually be a Cold Air Intake. Since you have all those other mods you might not notice a HUGE increase in power but you probably will notice fuel economy. Also the cold air intake just adds to that mean sound that you seem to be going for with the dual exhaust. You should still have the resonators there, but its possible some places leave them out.
