I have an old persian rug?

how do I find out how much its worth?

Answer:

take it to a dealer i can give u and estimate since i sold mine. 3 by 4 meter for $2500 CAD and bigger one i forgot the size for $4000 CAD look in the yellow pages or just go a store see if they have an inspector. it should sell for god amount of money depending on condition and how old it is.
You could take it to an antique store or oriental rug shop and get it appraised. You could do an E-Bay search for oriental rugs. You could search online for prices. You could take a picture and send it to the Antique Road Show.
If it's real a Persian hair rug it could be priceless. I have Persian skin suitcase that was appraised at $4950.00. You could be sitting on a gold mine.
What are commonly known as persian rugs are actually made in wide ranging locales in eastern Europe, Asia, and the Indian subcontinent. You might do a Yahoo search for persian rugs and get lucky enough to identify the pattern of your rug, but it will take the eye of an expert to give you definitive information. Best bet is to take your rug to a reputable rug dealer in your area. They will be able to identify the rug, determine age and origin, assess condition, recommend cleaning and preservation, and assess its' value. Good luck with your search for information.
