Question:

I have decided to get two piercings, industrial/scaffold, and a tongue piercing?

I wanted to hear about some people's experiences with these piercings, how much they hurt, tips of care, and things like that. I have heard that they put a numbing spray when doing an industrial (any comments on this?) Thanks for all of your advice and personal help. Anyone who is going to bag on piercings, why even bother? Thank you!

Answer:

I have my tongue done - did it in '96. I remember using lots of Listerine (any other kind doesn't clean your mouth the same). There was some other mouth stuff I had to wash out with. Midol for the swelling. It didn't really hurt, just felt weird. Really be careful when you eat - especially certain things like beef jerky and steak. I take it out with beef jerky. I've chomped on mine a couple times and chipped a couple back teeth. The letter 'L' has to be adjusted for me because the bottom ball hits my bottom teeth, so I changed the way I spoke a bit. I've heard it causes cancer, but not sure about that totally. Don't play with it. It looks tacky and it could cause a chip. I take mine out a couple times a year and soak it in peroxide to get the plaque off. But put it in later or the next day! Day 3 for me and I was desperately pushing it back thru! Mine rubs on the bottom of my mouth so I need a break to heal my mouth. But I would push it thru once in a while if I wanted to keep it out longer. Watch out for spaghetti or certain meats and things that could wrap around the top ball and hang on while you swallow so it's half in your mouth around the ball and half down your throat. Sometimes it's scary. Melted cheese does that too sometimes.
There are so many things you could get pierced! Here are some ideas for ya. Tragus Rook Conch Nose Lip or snakebites Horizontal eyebrow Nipples Hood Wrist (top) My friend has her wrist pierced and it looks awesome! Tongue Webbing Frowny Smiley Cheeks Anti-eyebrow Monroe Just type any of those into a search engine w/pictures and find something that catches your eye. Check out BME as well, you can find plenty of kickass piercings there.
The tounge piercing isnt bad if it'll be the first time you've ever had it done. It goes through very easily and then you get to spoon slushies into your mouth for a couple of days. now for the industrial. i had it done and it got extremely infected. its a problem if you have long hair as it will get caught around the balls. depending on what side you sleep on it sucks. you can barely even touch it let alone lay on it. basically if you really want to get it done ask them to do it with 2 seperate bars. make sure they still line the holes up perfectly though. after it heals put the industrial bar in, that way it can heal completely without all the pressure. GOODLUCK?
Cartilage piercings hurt like a mother ****** and are a ***** while healing. Make sure your pillowcase is clean, clean the piercing w/warm sea salt soaks, and spray the piercing w/h2ocean throughout the day. As far as your tongue goes rinse your mouth w/a warm sea salt soak twice a day and rinse it out w/an alcohol free mouthwashafter eating, drinking (anything other than water), or smoking. If you smoke you should quit or at least cut back, smoking is not good for oral piercings especially while they heal. Don't drink alcohol for a few days either, especially beer! Piercers usually only use a numbing agent when a person asks for it and they charge extra for it. I've never used it myself but I've been told it doesn't help much. p.s. you can suck on small ice chips to help the swelling go down in your mouth.
