Question:

i know its not car audio but someone here should know car alarms?

i want to put an alarm on my car but its expensive to have it installed could i order one off of the internet and put it in my self for cheeper i have no power locks or windows so that shouldnt be a problem just want the motion sensor

Answer:

All I have to say is GOOD LUCK! They are a pain the *** to install! I know the labor at circuit city is free on car alarms. Ok, so its not free, but it is built into the cost of the alarm priced on the shelf. Just pay to get it done right so you dont screw anything up. You may need bypasses and other parts. Plus, you don't have access to installer websites that tell what every wire is for and etc.
i've been installing car alarms for about 10 years now, and the fastest i have ever done one was 2 1/2 hours. you have about 60 different wires to tap into, not cut, but tap, and you have at least three sensors to install, not to mention a hood pin, trunk pin, microwave sensor (if you want your alarm to activate if someone sticks their hand in the window) and, not to mention, you have to know what color all those wires are, and where they reside. now you understand why getting an alarm installed is so darn expensive. the units themselves are decently cheap, it's just that the labor to do it is rediculous. the units i sell are from CompuStar, and it even includes a remote start, and full featured alarm. for the full she-bang, with two way remote (little screen on your keychain that tells you if the car is running or the alarm was triggered) i install in about 4 hours and it costs around $300-$400, depending on vehicle, and if they have a factory security system that i need to disable. i really hope this helps your answer.
all u do is connnect all wires drill a ho0le or fing thr hole on the car where all the wires go through inside feed the wires and install the wires to its component install the brain motion sensor and last connect the battery wire after making sure all wires and connections are in its place
I agree with Troy, go to your local auto parts place (Advanced Auto, Napa, AutoZone, etc) and have them scan your computer. The majority of places in Minnesota do it for free and this will be a good start for you.
most likely a wet/damaged sensor , once oil/water levels are good and thermostat is functioning right there is no proper reason for it, best bet get a dealer to run a diagnostic , all new VW's hav a handy elec diag, a dealer/garage should be able to run it for free and then you can do what you need with that info
