Question:

whats a good exhaust system for my 1999 ford explorer v8?

I‘m looking for a little performance and something that will sound mean. Any suggestions?

Answer:

1999 Ford Explorer Exhaust System
I recommend headers, an aftermarket replacement cat with the largest input and output that you can find and 2 1/2 to 3 inch tubing. I noticed a great improvement in torque when I changed out the original system that was in my mine. Exhaust sound is a personnal option that you need to research. Even without headers you'll notice a big difference over the OEM system.
Flowmaster! That is the best exhaust for domestic trucks. I've had it on my dodge, my sierra, and now on my tahoe. I currently have the super 40 series on my tahoe and it sure sounds mean. You have other options such as gibson or magnaflow or even dynomax. I suggest you get the flowmasters tho. If not, go for the dynomax, it's the next best rumble from the flows. Good luck, I know you won't be disappointed with these choices.
those lifts you get at the mechanics? Huh?
Get a good floor jack and a strong set of jackstands. That's what every at-home mechanic has in their tool arsenal.
