Question:

i need help with a card reader?

i just bought one and it is usb powered. i have windows xp so it doesnt require me to install anything. it recognises it as a removable storage device but when i put the sdhc or sd cards in it it asks me to format then it says unable to format. it is a real pain and i dont understand what is going on. i cant even look at my files let alone transfer :( please help

Answer:

The SD card should have a movable tab in the corner to lock/unlock the card. If the card is locked, you can read from it, but not copy to it or format it. If that doesn't work, I would exchange it for a different card reader.
Hmmmit sounds like your cards might not be compatible with the reader. They may fit but I've noticed that some older devices won't work with newer cards, and some older cards won't work with the newer devices. For instance, I can't use 1GB memory cards in my new camera, and I can't use my HC SD card in my newer camera. Or, you might need to install a particular driver for the reader. If you have the package, you could try giving support a call and see if you need to install anything for it to read your cards. good luck :)
