Question:

I need help with the heating tubes of 68 vw bug?

I recently bought a 1968 Vw bug that has a twin tip muffler on itThere is a tubing system that should be connected for the heater and to keep heat away from the engine, but the muffler is in the way of the holes that the tubes fit overI don;t have the money for a stock muffler and the flex tube does not bend fast enough to connect themWhat do I do?

Answer:

the above answers are correct.
By your description, it sounds like the flex tubes to the heater boxes are not connected, right? If that's the case, that would definitely cause your engine to run hot and possibly overheatCap off the outlets on the fan shroud so your cooling air doesn't escape before it does its job- cooling the heads and cylindersGenerally, header systems design doesn't take into account routing of the heater hoses so you have to be creative if you want heat in the winterThe corrugated aluminum tubing sold as heater hoses CAN be crushed slightly to get around those pesky header pipes, so try thatAnd make sure all your tin and rubber seals are in place for optimum cooling.
