Question:

I need something thin, solid, cheap, and is good for killing heat(insulator)?

(might not be important)*Well I‘ll be applying this to my xbox 360‘s heat sinks. I won‘t be wrapping the whole heat sink into this either, its just to do this thing called the fan shroud mod.* So i need something that can either kill heat, or keep it from getting any hotter, well at least reduce the heat compared to other things.(an insulator). From what i know, copper is good for this, but what does copper do exactly when up against heat? is aluminum foil good for heat?I prefer something like paper thin, but an be as thick as 1/4 of an inch.If I bunch of pennies together, like a paper sheet, cover the gaps, put it onto the heat sink (which is what will get hot) can it reduce the heat by a little? the heat sink can go up to 60 C I already put cardboard which gets somewhat hot anyway, so i‘m looking for something that can reduce the heat, instead of getting hot as well.

Answer:

Pennies are not 100% copper. Today's pennies are 2.5%- 5% copper. Also, filling the gaps in the heatsink with pennies will yield higher temperatures because it's restricting airflow on the high surface area copper heatsink.

I think you should think more along the line of shielding and dissipation. Aluminum foil with gaps in between sheets or plastic (card board maybe) with many holes (no holes in foil). If possible make vent holes in the casing to achieve even better cooling. HOPE IT WORKS FOR YOU.
