Question:

i own a nishiki 15 spd 26 adult mountain bikeit has aluminum 26 wheels is the entire bike aluminum or just the wheels.?

I believe the bike is a montour I am looking for road style handle bars with brake levers on the very front of handle barsI use it for commuting up and down hills to work I am wondering what size handle bar is required to fit the bike properlyI currently have extensions on the standard bar to raise it up atleast 6inches for climbing the hills I would find it very useful as i would ride more comfortably down the curvy hillsBEing able to acces the brakesNot a down hill racerThanks for any information or resources you can prlvode

Answer:

Current Montours seems to be 21 speed and 700C/28 wheels, which makes it real hard to figure out what bike and what parts you have nowWith the bar I'm assuming you want a drop bar, like the ones used on road bikesone with a 25.4 mm center would fit the current Montours, but it's anybody's guess if it'd fit yoursYou may need a new stemAnd with drop bars, you'd need new brake levers, but not all brake levers will work with the brakes on the current Montours The shifters from the current Montour can't be fitted to drop bars - unless you get a drop bar off a DenaliAnd I wonder how you've managed a 6 extensionAre you talking about the bar ends? Or have you had the stem replaced already? Current Montours use quill stems, and those can be had quite tallSitting more upright ROBS you of power, so how those extensions make hills easier I can't understandPretty much the only tweak I can see that's sensible money-wise, given the price of the bike, would be to fit the bike with drop bar ends, to give a more aero position for descents.
