Question:

do you keep your electric blanket on when you sleep?

i usually try and turn it off in case it catches on fire or something :S but is that possible? is there a risk when keeping it on at night?

Answer:

Good morning Iamme, Think about this. If electric blankets were a very real threat, (especially with today's advances in construction of them), they would have been 'recalled' already Earlier versions, before modern safety standards were applied, probably were a 'Caveat Emptor' (let the buyer beware). That being said, however, you should certainly go with what makes you feel safer. I have personally solved this dilemma by getting a waterbed. (Toasty warm in the winter, refreshingly cool in the summer) Peace, Buzzy
Yes I do, and I have been using for more than 10 years, but make sure there is no twist or ties. It should be flat over your thin cover, and make sure every wire plugged in securely. More over put it on mark number “3” a few minutes before getting into the bed, then put on number “1” because you will fell so hot in the middle of the night
No, I don't even sleep with an electric blanket. I have a giant fear of being electrocuted. Ever since the blanket caught on fire back with I was 7 I have been too scared to sleep with an electric blanket.
Assuming that you're not overheating the pipe, you still have some type of contamination on the pipe that won't accept solder. Try cleaning it with some emery cloth (or sandpaper) and then some acetone or MEK to be certain that it's throughly clean.
