Question:

I've replaced the batteries in my smoke detector, but it keeps chirping. How do I turn it off?

We've had this problem before. The smoke detector keeps chirping (LOUDLY) as if the battery is dead. I replace the battery, but it keeps chirping. I hired a guy last time because I was so frustrated, and I think he turned off the power to the house and then turned it back on to resolve the issue. I've tried it myself to no avail. This house was built about 9 years ago. Any help would be appreciated.

Answer:

The painting is by Rembrandt (can't remember when it was painted but it's fairly early in his career, probably 1630-35). The face on the shield is Medusa. Minerva, the Roman goddess of wisdom and inventor of musical instruments, changed Medusa's hair into snakes and she was eventually killed by Perseus. The other bits of armour are part of Minerva's representation. She was also the patroness of the arts and trades. Add on. Is this the Minerva in her study of 1635 that was for sale in New York a few years ago?
aluminum foil is probably cheaper, but you'd have to stick it to something to make it strong enough to withstand a gust of wind. glass mirrors are actually covered with a thin layer of aluminium to make them reflect, and so is reflective mylar
