Question:

Ideal tire pressure; 2007 Ford Focus?

What is the ideal tire pressure for a 2007 Ford Focus SES hatchback? Currently on 16 wheels, all-season Pirelli TiresThanks!

Answer:

Wow, Thanks! Just what I was searching for. I looked for the answers on the internet but I couldn't find them.
I've heard it used in reference to steering a course that is not expected or out of the ordinary. In the movie Speed, Stallone is in second place and trying to pass the leader, but he won't let him by. On a sharp corner, Stallone takes a short cut, hitting a low curb in the process that launches his car air born, but landing in front of the leader (but with broken front suspension). This is trail breaking. While impressive, it does not win races.
I am glad yo umentioned all-season Pirelli. I am gonna go ahead and say 36 Hot/ 32 Cold (Psi,) I have found the difference in hot and cold pressures to be about 4. It would be different on a low pro (Low Profile or Low Index) tire like a 40-series or something, but for the 60- and 65- and 70-series tires (1992 Olds 88 has 70-series tires) I would say 36 Hot. I check hot or cold, if its 32 cold, it may be around 36 Hot. Nice Pirellis. Do you like them? They should be good. Not bad at all. PS: That is currently the tire pressure in my car, and I have a 1995 Ford Escort whuch was the pre-runner to your car. Then came the Focus which is unloved but it is cheap and Jetta-ish, then the Fusion you have. I was given the recommendation 36 psi Hot after a long thread, so I will pass it along to you, your car is bigger and has 16-inch but the genealogy and company is there. Ford Escort, Ford Fusion. Generally same principle.) So Im gonna say 36 PSI Hot.
ford typically underpressures tires on their vehicles to give them a better ride. in return you get poor tire wear and fuel economy. also it can be dangerous if you remember all the tire failures on Explorers in the late 90's to 2002 they were caused by ford recommending only 26 psi in their cars. ignore fords recommendations. 32-35 is typically recommended on passenger cars. the higher end better for fuel economy the lower better for ride and handling. these pressures keep you in the optimal operating pressures for typical passenger car tires to prevent tire failure from too much or too little pressure.
