I just bought my first carbon fiber bike and it's not even on your listAfter looking for 3 months I bought a left over 08 Orbea Opal with Campy for $2100Check out the Orbea Onix It was my second choice That said, if comfort is really your first concern, I test rode both Specialized machines and the Trek from your list, along with the Trek Madone 5.2 If those were my choices the 5.2 is awesome but out of your price range (do you want to stretch it?)The Madone 4.5 has a similar feel to the 5.2 so I would make it nextThe Specialized Roubaix didn't feel as responsive as the Madone and the Tarmac was too aggressive in geometry for me to be a good tourerEdit: If you get the 5.2 Madone you have the only bike with a 90mm bottom bracketNone stiffer, not even CannondaleTest ride before you buy and make your own judgment call.
