Question:

if there is any air in the disk brake system will the brake suddenly fail in a short amount of time?

I just finish bleeding my brakes on my motorcycle. I gave it a test ride and seem to be in good working order however. My question is if there is any air that i missed; will it stay in the brake system and cause failure at a random time or will I know with in a short test ride if my brakes are really safe?

Answer:

You should try to get the air out a.s.a.p, your brakes will feel spongy and you won't get the positive feel from them.
It will work with a tiny bit of air, but you really want to keep bleeding them untill all the air is gone 100%.
the answer to your question is, even if you miss some air you can still get it all out. You'll know you don't have all the air out when you will grab the front brake and pull the lever all the way in and you still won't stop. you can ALWAYS get the air out. so don't think you have to buy a new brake system, just keep bleeding them and be patient. it's not a quick fix.
