Question:

Im getting my brackets (braces) in one hour!!!!!what to expect?

Im getting my brackets on today, and very soon.what is the procedure of putting on the brackets? What should i expect?

Answer:

The brackets procedure won't hurt at all. They use some weird glue and bond it to your teeth with a weird looking ray gun light. Unfortunately the painful part is when they strap on the wires. So if you aren't getting wired in there's no worries! I had to have braces for a long time, and the two biggest things that helped me were chewing gum and motrin.
Take Tylenol or your usual pain killer before you go. They are going to polish your teeth and then dry them, then they will put the cement or glue on to your teeth and then the brackets go on and then the rubber bands around the brackets. They dry the glue to make sure that everything stays in place. They will tell you what you need to do with the braces on keeping them clean and how the procedure will go. Then you are done and will probably set up an appointment for the tightening. Good Luck and doesn't hurt as bad as everyone says it does. :)
Everyone here has given excellent answers for you to go by. Follow any instructions given by your orthodontist. Also, a soft diet is best to start with and cold helps to disengage the wire and ease the soreness for awhile. So, you may want to get some ice cream or smoothies for a few days until you get use to having braces. Advil or Motrin works best for dental discomfort and for the remainder of your time in orthodontics, keep the chap stick handy! Work hard at keeping them clean, this will help to keep the tissue nice and healthy which will eliminate the pain that some ortho wearers experience and also reduce your chance of dental decay developing. Good luck! You are going to love your new smile!
i got mine on about 2 weeks ago. They put this thing on you that stretches out ur mouth alot(put chapstick on before you go) then they apply primer, so the brackets will stay on. then they fit bands around your back molars, and that hurts a little bit. then they put the brackets on. and the worst part of that is when they secure the wire with little rubber bands(the colored parts of ur brackets) you can feel pressure when they do that. but dont worry, its kinda fun !!!
it hurts a lot. they drill ur teeth and cram brackets thru the holes. it hurts very much and ur teeth bleed streams of blood. then they insert hot wax on your cut teeth and u cant even scream
