Question:

IM REPLACING THE AXLE ON MY 2002 FORD CROWN VICTORIA?

Ok.i am replacing my axle on my 2002 crown victoriaim going to a car salvage yard, and was wondering, what other ford cars can i get the same axle off of, to put on my crown vic, just incase they dont have any out there thanks for your help

Answer:

The salvage yard should have a Hollander Interchange Manual. It will give th info you're looking for.
It's has the ubiquitous Ford 8.8 inch, 27 spline axles IIRC,. You can use an axle from a Mustang GT or 4.2/4.6L F-150, or another Crown Vic/Grand Marquis/Town Car. If you're swapping the entire axle out, you'll want to pay attention to what ratio the ring and pinion gears are. Your CV likely has 2.73/3.08/3.27 gears. If you use an axle with a different ration, you'll have to recalibrate your speedometer.
