In a fuel cell, is the anode/cathode negative or positive?

I am researching PEM fuel cells. Can you tell me the basics of how they work? And the basic structure? Please don't just copy and paste Wikipedia or something, I've already been looking at tons of sources but I'm having trouble starting this paper. Any help is appreciated! Thank you!

Remember this: anode has its pronunciation nearing to anion. So an anion comes to the anode. But if an anion comes to anode then the anode must be positively charged so that it comes in accordance with the statement unlike charges attract each other. So, cathode has its pronunciation nearing to cation. So an cation comes to the cathode. But if a cation comes to cathode then the cathode must be positively charged so that it comes in accordance with the statement mentioned again unlike charges attract each other. W@W.
