Question:

In-Key Transmitter with No Alarm.?

Hello. I am buying a new car this weekend (the 2009 Corolla). The car I want has an in-key transmitter which unlocks the car/trunk directly from the key (without having to insert the key into the door to unlock it). In my opinion, the car alarm the dealer is going to try to sell me is way too expensive (around $600). Is it possible to integrate an aftermarket alarm with the in-key transmitter so that when I lock my car with the key, the alarm will turn on as well? I would prefer to not carry a seperate piece on my key chain for the alarm if I don't have to.

Answer:

you need to check the batteries, if you turn it over it will tell you in writing somewhere on the back how to know what the beeps stand for. it could also be you have it hanging to close to a place where steam may get to it, that can cause it to beep. never remove the batteries because of smoke, take the unit to fresh air, you can damage the unit and it will beep irregular. the fire department in my area has a fire prevention thing going every year at the fall back part of the time change, so every year (in the fall) when the time falls back an hour, we remember to change the batteries in our smoke detectors and other detectors. it is also a good time to clean under the dryer and check your dryer vents for build up, which can cause a fire in your home.
