Question:

information on getting a copper iud?

i'm 15, never had a baby or been pregnant, and i can't use hormonal birth control due to my bipolar disorder. my older sister is also bipolar and has the copper iud, but i havent gathered too many side effects or information on it. help? :)

Answer:

You're very smart not to use a hormonal contraceptive like Depo Provera. I am suffering tremendously from physical/mental side effects for nearly four months now from one shot. About the copper IUD- it seems to be high effective with no hormones involved. It disallows an egg to be fertilized and can last for ten years! It sounds ideal! I should've went with it.
It’s common sense: the healthier you are, the more likely you are to get pregnant. Try to do whatever you can to improve your chances of getting pregnant.
You're looking for Paragard. Mirena is the other one but that does contain hormones. The difference is mirena doesn't cycle the hormones through you're whole blood stream. Both of them are probably viable options for you for that reason.
