Question:

Install VMWare workstation?

I have the VMWare workstation User Manual.Somewhere it probably tells me what I need to know. Can I get a Cliffs Notes version? Basically I need to create a virtual partition running Microsoft Server 2003.

Answer:

Yeah, sure it's quite easyFile | New | Virtual Machine - a Wizard appears and you choose Next Virtual Machine configuration appears in the next window: - You choose Typical (default) Guest Operating system: - You choose Windows and Windows Server 2003 - You have to choose your Server edition and x64 bit if applicable - 64 bit is better for larger amounts of memory (4 GB RAM), and if you plan on deploying it to a virtual server (VMWare ESX) Name your virtual machine: - You choose any name you like for your server - you choose where to put the files (location) Network connection - I prefer to use bridged networking, the virtual machine get it's own IP address Disk capacity - you choose a large amount of GBs here, it will not consume the disk space unless you actually need itBe careful NOT to set it too low, because later you will regret it! Choose something like 30 GBs or moreThe Wizard is completeNow you have to install the operating systemChoose to use a DVD or ISO-fileISO-files can be mounted under the CD-ROM device in VMWare.
Ace hardware carries it.
