Question:

Integra Valves Ticking?

What do I do to make my valves stop ticking? And what makes them tick? its a 94 Acura Integra with a 91 LS motor, 105,000 miles. If I get a new engine head will it stop ticking or the ticking has to do with the block?

Answer:

The valve lash is supposed to be adjusted like every 60k. Your's might need it bad.
the ticking is common on the ls motor...just adjust your valves....
you just neeed to have the valve lash adjusted, 105 is nothing on the B18, my integra had 250k+ before it got totaled and it was still running strong, you dont have to replace the head. and you will have to do more work if your gonna put a GSR on the LS block
Just have the valves checked. They may be adjustable on that car. No, don't buy a head. It could be low oil pressure, blocked oil gallery, worn guides. Just get it checked out. At that mileage, I would not spend a lot of money on it. Just wait until you get a new car or get a whole engine rebuild. You may be able to drive it as is for another 100,000 miles.
Get your valves adjusted. The B18B engine has solid valves- like every non-VTEC Honda engine. The service interval is actually every 30,000 miles, but usually the technician just checks them at 30,000 miles. If they need adjusting, the tech will adjust them, but usually they don't. Yours are right on schedule. Go get the valves adjusted now. It's just normal wear and tear. When you hear the ticking, just get them adjusted. Those are extremely reliable engines and 105,000 miles is like you just broke it in.
