Question:

Intermittent parking brake light- 92 nissan pickup?

I‘ve noticed the parking brake indicator lighting up when turning left, its happening consistently at the same turn every day on my communte in the afternoon. It came on once in the morning also. I jostled the parking brake, but it was not set, nor anywhere near set. Considering the spedometer is not functional, I‘m wondering if all the instrumentation is just going, or is there a problem with my brakes? Any help is greatly appreciated, thank you!

Answer:

Your brake fluid is a little low, top it off and have the brakes checked soon.
The red brake warning lamp is also used to indicate a pressure imbalance in the braking system, to indicate low fluid level, and to let you know if the parking brake is on. With the car sitting still, FIRMLY push on the brake pedal and see if the light comes on. if so, there may either be a leak in the system somewhere, or the brakes are badly out of adjustment if its got drum rear brakes. Most common cause is for low fluid level, which , if the fluid has been used up in the master cylinder reservoir, its time to have the brake system inspected for lining wear or leaks.
