Question:

Is a horse currently in a snaffle bit able to be ridden in a snaffle bit with copper rollers?

I‘m buying a horse who is being ridden in a d ring snaffle bit. I found a d ring dnaffle with copper rollers on it. Will this be an ok bit for him? Also, would a 78‘‘ flysheet most likely fit a 15.2h tb?How do I go about measuring for a blanket, splint boots, and a girth when I go for a final viewing of him? Thanks in advancee!

Answer:

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Just buy him a bit like he's used to. D-ring snaffles aren't exactly rare.
Does he not come with his tack? Copper rollers will just encourage him to play with the bit and salivate - good because it shows he doesn't hold the bit in his mouth and isn't tense through the jaw. Ask the current owners what sizes he takes - there are different ways to measure depending on where you are in the world so you'd be best putting your faith in Google (not to mention it varies due to conformation, size, breed and type)
Bon Ami or even baking soda with a nylon scrubber works for not too major stains. Soft Scrub for others.
I use ceramabrite a razor blade paint scraper lotsa elbow grease
