Question:

Is a metal roof more expensive than shingles?

If you‘re going to say, well it depnds on how big your roof is and what type of pitch it is. Its about 1300 sq. ft with a simple pitch. Its just a rectangular house, one story, so the roof is just a big triangle on top of it.

Answer:

A warm day at the lake, cold beer and a T-bone or two on the barbecue. No major storm yet, just a lot of snow flurries. But we're having a white Christmas!
My evening would be perfect if I was sitting in front of a blazing fireplace and snuggling with that special guy.But instead , I'm in the middle of trying to move my daughter and her two small kids in with me during this horrible snow storm! And as luck would have it I had to sell my large snow blower earlier this year to pay for repairs on my van! But I am thankful that a couple of guys did come down to help clear my drive way with their shovels and snow blowers and I am also thankful that the small house that my daughter is moving out of is only a block away from me and that we are on a road that is one of the first to get plowed! Enjoy your fire for meI have to get back to packing! Happy Holidays!
Metal roofing intended for houses is more expensive than asphalt shingles. Like another poster said, metal sheets made for barns may be cheaper, but not by much.
Regardless of the size or pitch of your roof, metal roofing is more expensive than composite shingles. Unless of course you go with the cheap corrugated material that most people use on barns or storage buildings.
a properly installed metal roof, painted steel, copper or zinc (not corrugated sheet material) will cost more initially, but the life will be dramatically longer, so in the long run, it is quite a bit cheaper.
