Question:

Is copper cookware worth anything?

I inherited some copper cookware 20 years ago, is it worth anything?

Answer:

Check the prices of the new stuff and decide from that. Find the same brand if possible. A Mauviel 8.5 inch copper frypan is $150 on sale at Williams-Sonoma right now. But it isn't all that expensive, there are cheaper ones. They just won't be worth as much and maybe not much at all if they're thin. If you aren't sure what you have, I'd take some in to a good kitchenware store and ask them what they think you have. One major difference between the new stuff and the old stuff you have might be in the lining. Copper pots were traditionally lined wth tin because copper reacts to food. That tin lining must be renewed if it wears thin. I've never had to get a price on that but I'm sure it's not cheap and you might even have to send the pots away to have it done. The new copper pans have a stainless lining which will last much longer. That factor might reduce the value of your older copperware considerably because the new stuff is pretty much maintenance free.
Yess!!!But,it cooks better than the money you would get for scrap metal. Most gourmet cooks use copper or stainless steel exclusively as it heats very evenly.I would not trade my cast iron cookware for anything.(Plus, the company went out of business that made it!!!!,it lasts Forever.) Mine are exact duplicates of my mothers, skillet, griddle and dutch oven, great for camping as well.
Well, obviously the value depends upon the manufacturer which is likely written on the bottom. Some copper cookware is quite valuable, (like Revere), but even the worst is worth the price of scrap copper which is actually quite high right now.
Not really, plain old copper cookware is very limited. Better cookware sets are made from stainless steel and an alloy, or combination, of different metals that include steel, nickel, and chromium, among others. These other metals basically help in making the steel able to resist corroding. These types of utensils would not require any use of excessive oils and butter to prevent food from sticking.
Not really because alot of your good cookware is being sold in stores all over the country, like pots and pans its staneless steal with copper underneath. if i were you get it checked out first before you do anything crazy. like dumb it somewhere. also try to sale it on OKorder if its not worth anything make up your own price.
