Question:

Is dawndishwashing soap ultra apple blossom safe to wash my two kittens?

Ok i have kittens around 3 or 4 months , and they are filled with fleas, i dont want to get them sick, but i want to wash them today with dawn, i heard dawn was safe? can i wash them with the ultra apple blossom, please be honest because i heard you can ! ;)thank you , Iwill rinse well and use a rag.

Answer:

The original blue Dawn is what is safe to use on kittens. If you call an animal emergency room, (I had a woman put too much Advantage on a cat), they will tell you to use Original Dawn Dishwashing liquid. You will see the original Dawn dishwashing liquid being used on advertisements about helping with the oil spills.
It is not recommended by Dawn, but they supposedly use the stuff on animals covered in oil. I used it on my Jack Russell puppy and she was fine and it left her coat clean but not dry.
Dawn only cleans up flea dirt and doesn't kill the fleas. I suggest getting a bottle of cat shampoo from the pet store (human shampoo is to harsh on the cat's fur).
The dishwashing liquid isn't going to kill the fleas anyway -- the best effect you'll get from that is from the water rinsing the fleas off of them. If you have a sprayer in your sink, hosing them down with that alone with warm enough water to not chill the kittens (but not too hot either -- aim for about 101 degrees) and rinsing the fleas down the drain is going to be the best effect. Save the dishwashing liquid for if they get into something greasy and you need to wash that off of them. There's no need to add that to rinse the fleas off of them since it won't add benefit anyway.
