Question:

Is High Bran cereal good for my IBS?

Hello, I am currently suffering from IBS, going on 5 years nowMy diet is VERY VERY poor, I eat alot of junk food, and most of that is meat! I already know that I am not eating enough Fibre in my diet.To boost my Fibre-intake, I am going to start eating High Bran cerealBut I have read that it does not provide the other nutrients that are found in other Fibre-rich foodsWill eating this High Bran cereal really help my IBS????? If so, how long will it take before I start feeling better??? Will I have to eat other Fibre-rich foods aswell??? Or will the cereal be sufficient enough? Thanks!!

Answer:

So get real and bake it in the oven!! YOu can cook it at 250F for overnight and it will be great Wash it inside and out, pat dry, rub salt into the inside and some on the outsideNear time to serve, rub some butter over the skin for nice crispy beautifully brown skinBe sure to use a baking pan about 2 inches deep or better.
No 15 lb is going to fit in a crockpotIf you dont have any pan then go to the dollar store and buy one of those cheap foil ones and place it on a cookie sheet.
If you don't have pans that are big enough, how will you ever fit it into a crockpot? I think the skin would be soggy fatty in a crockpot anyways You can buy disposable turkey roasting pans for a couple of dollars at any grocery store
I have a large crockpot and I just tried my 15lb birdIt is just a little too bigI thought the crockpot would make it more tender and be easier on the meat, cooking at a low tempI was going to remove it at the last and put it in the oven to brown it, but now will have to do straight ovenOne of our best turkey's was done in the gas barbecue with the lid downIt cooked really quickly and was very moistI think I will do a very slow oven to try for the same effect.
Hi Ive had IBS myself in the pastBran used to be recommended for IBS, however it isn't anymoreThe reason is that bran is high in insoluble fibre which can make things worse The latest advice is to try extra soluble fibre, this will bulk up stools but keep them soft, a good source of soluble fibre is oats Generally though managing IBS i found a food diary to isolate IBS triggers is a good way to goFor me it was when i drink too much coffee, or drink more than a couple of beersHope this helps
