Question:

Is it illegal to fire blanks in your own house?

I live in Austin, TX in a residential neighborhood. My roommate and I are filming a short comedy video for a new web series in which we will need to fire blank rifle rounds in my roommate's bedroom.Don't worry, we won't be firing them at anybody, but, despite the bad neighborhood we live in, it would very likely get the cops called on us. Is it fine to do this, is it completely illegal, or is there a way to handle this in advance?

Answer:

Nowadays you can print a resin handgun using a three-dimensional printer, but I don't know how practical it is to use any form of non-metal ammunition for such a gun - certainly an air-operated resin gun firing resin pellets would be undetectable. Many landmines were made of plastic to be virtually undetectable by normal metal detectors on the battlefield.
There are HPNA (home-phone network adaptors) available that allow you to use existing phone network in the house as a LAN. You can also try Power line adaptors. Both Linksys and Netgear have both. A dedicated n WIFI should work as well.
