Question:

Is it necessary to solution heat treat 6061 aluminum after welding it.?

Is it still beneficial to age the aluminum in an oven after welding, if you do not do the solution treatment? If so, what are the optimal parameters (how hot for how long?) If it isn't beneficial, are there any less expensive alternatives to use for the solution treatment process as opposed to $xxx,xxx.00 oven and quenching systems.
