Is it ok to drive a bad axle around town?

iss it ok to drive a bad axle around town just to go to work and back until i can get it fixed?

Answer:

im assuming your talking a cv-axle clicking when you take off or turn sharp. If thats the case yoe should be alright for a while,. Dont push it to far
It's impossible to drive an AXLE around town. Axles never go bad. The constant velocity joints at the ends of the axles can go bad when the boots leak grease and the joint runs dry.
It is not a good idea, especially if it is clicking because what is happening is the outboard joint is about to come apart which can cause the steering to lock if a ball comes out of place. It really is not that expensive of a repair but I understand not expensive is relative to what people can afford, here it would cost about $150 to replace the axle shaft.
